Houseboat Holiday

I went on a houseboat in Alsace!!! (this corner of paradise is in France, tucked between Germany and Luxembourg).... spectacular!!! A holiday to try and repeat!! I entrusted the planning of the itinerary to Loft Studio Viaggi in Milan. Excellent service, helpfulness and speed in giving you a quote...and the chance to be advised according to my personal needs both on the itinerary and on the model of boat (there are boats from 2 up to 12 berths, truly for every budget). After this excellent consultation we set off from Milan and in four and a half hours (via Basel, Switzerland) we arrived at the starting base in Alsace. Here, after dealing with the formalities (a mini driving course and a practical explanation of how it works. Note: the base manager spoke French, German and a little English, but it's a more practical explanation so no language problems) we set off sailing.

It's a journey through the heart of vineyards and medieval villages on the banks of the Canal de la Marne. At Arzwiller you'll find a useful and exceptional boat lift, to overcome a difference in level of about 90 metres. A journey of enormous cultural quality where the serenity of the green meadows and the intoxicating breeze on the riverbanks meet. The most interesting detail is that anyone can drive a houseboat since no boating licence is needed, so even my son, who is only 12, tried this unforgettable experience!! The chance to stop without constraints or restrictions, the chance to feel free on these waters, the chance to sail without being an expert navigator, convinced us to repeat this different way of travelling, at a slow pace without losing contact with dry land (e.g.

after Arziviller you stop to admire and savour the delights of Saverne, a typically Alsatian place where you can taste traditional cheeses, beers and wines).... Next destination: Holland!!... by houseboat of course!!!
