Anyone who thinks that by knowing English you can travel anywhere is very much mistaken. The French hate speaking English! For a hotel we chose one in the Latin Quarter that offers only breakfast, but on the plus side it's near a metro stop, which is crucial! It's better to get the weekly pass to travel by metro, the Paris Visite, very convenient. For eating we did this: at lunch we'd eat something on the street, especially kebabs, while for dinner we'd eat something bought at a very well-stocked supermarket near the hotel. Every evening we'd choose a different wine and cheese, in short to try the best of French cuisine; ah yes, there was nothing else good. I was very disappointed by Napoleon's tomb, I expected much more. Maybe I see it this way because I've always considered Napoleon first of all a great thief.
Among the beauties of Paris, known to everyone, I'd like to suggest something less known: the army museum for example, complete with an atomic bomb; the Père Lachaise cemetery, where Jim Morrison and Oscar Wilde rest; the Luxembourg Gardens, seat of the Senate, a marvel! Ideal for a stroll. One important thing I didn't know: works from the 1800s onwards have been moved from the Louvre to another museum, the Musée d'Orsay. Entry costs 7.50 euros. Another must, besides the Eiffel Tower, is the Montmartre area, very characteristic with its street painters and its little alleys. Bye everyone and... until the next trip!
