A trip to 'escape' from everyday stress... nothing planned in advance, nothing set or predictable, exactly the kind of trip I like. Oh, I almost forgot, by camper van, of course.

Day 123 Apr 2006

Trip to Provence (France) 23/04/2006 – 27/04/2006

Crews: - RIMOR Superbrig 728: Michele & Isabella; - Adria Space: Ale & Stefania; - Laika KREOS 3010: Mario & Daniela.

23/04/2006

Departure from Pisa destination Castellane (Provence) at 08:10 and arrival on site at 16:30, distance covered 460 km, lunch stop about 45 min. plus stops for diesel refueling and other about 30 min. Rest area near the town with a cost of 5 € per night (good), waste/water. Visited a very beautiful town and its fortress at the top of the mountain (very tiring).

24/04/2006

Departure from Castellane destination Paludes du Verdon at 09:15 and arrival at 11:00, stop on the lake with a river trip (Kayak) from the lake towards the canyon, spectacular scenery. Move in the evening to arrive at the rest area in Moustiers sante Marie with a cost of 6€ per night, waste/water. Visit to the town.

25/04/2006

Visit to the sanctuary of the town of Moustiers sante Marie perched on the top of the mountain and overlooked by an enormous star hanging between two mountain peaks. Departure for Roussillon at around 11:00, stop at Gardes to visit the Senanque abbey without being able to visit it because visits end at 16:35, exactly the time we arrived. Arrival in Roussillon with stop for the night at a cost of 9€, no waste/water.

26/04/2006

Visit to the Ocre canyon, very beautiful for the landscape it offers and for the colors of the rocks that range from red to yellow. Departure at 11:00 for the town of Avignon, seat of the palace of the popes, the palace itself is very beautiful and imposing, with a camper stop outside the walls (not allowed as it was a rest area for tourist coaches, anyway it went well because when the traffic wardens arrived for the relevant fines we managed to get away without damage). Departure to visit the medieval town of Baux de Provence, and arrival late in the evening at Saint Marie de la Mer (Camargue) with a stop at the La Brize campsite costing 24.60 € (including electricity), evening visit to the town.

27/04/2006

Unfortunately we have to interrupt the trip and so we set off again destination Pisa at 09:15 and after some stops for lunch/refueling and to rest, arrival in Pisa at 20:10, the route was 634 km.

Total kilometers traveled 1476. (Ale is very happy…)

Costs:

Diesel 180 €

rest areas and campsite 45 € French motorways 38 € ( 300 km ) Miscellaneous 80 € Italian motorways 57 € ( 660 km )

Total 400 €
