Finland is a wonderful land, full of surprises. The northern part of Finland is full of woods, lakes and…mosquitoes. Helsinki was part of a tour of the whole of Scandinavia and it absolutely did not disappoint us. The city does not have one particular attraction but it is the whole that will charm you. The open-air market held on the harbour quay will offer you all the products of this land: from wild raspberries to smoked salmon sold directly on the fishermen's boats. The city is pleasant, especially the university part. I must say that life is rather expensive and it is not exactly for every pocket. But it is a constant of all Scandinavia and so there are no great surprises. I recommend going in summer; the climate will allow you to enjoy the natural beauties better and above all to have plenty of light to enjoy the days outdoors.
Around Helsinki moose and reindeer camp at the edge of the (deserted) motorways. Always be very careful because these animals are the leading cause of accidents in Finland and very often they turn out to be serious accidents. Do not lower your attention while you are driving. For the rest, enjoy the nature and the thousand islands of the Gulf of Helsinki.
