16 April - With the Skoda Octavia rented in Lithuania on 13 April, after 2 days in Latvia, on 16 April we enter Estonia heading towards Parnu, more to visit the famous beach than the little village. Already by lunchtime we are in Tallinn (over 300 km covered from Riga). In one afternoon we manage to visit the heart of the city; we walk along the high defensive walls, visit characteristic little alleys, enter the church of San Nicola and admire the famous painting The Dance of Death. Dinner at the famous Olde Hansa, a place in medieval style where you dine by candlelight and the waiters are dressed in characteristic clothes; the honey beer is excellent. 17 April - We enter within the walls of the city and wander about in search of some corner not yet explored. We climb the Tompea hill to visit the Cathedral of Aleksandr Nevskij. We head for the Church of S.
Olef to climb to its top and enjoy the best panorama of the city. A glance towards the port, and we realise that Helsinki is too close to let slip the opportunity of a flying visit. We leave Tallinn to board the Tallink ferry at 14:00; at midnight we will be back for one last stroll in the historic centre. Tallinn is certainly one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, offering views that have nothing to envy of Prague and Paris; fairytale-like, lively, original: 10 out of 10!!
