The idea was to reach the North Cape... but the money ran out much sooner! We set off with the best intentions and, having passed Hamburg and the Elbe, we arrive in Copenhagen aboard a, for now, jaunty Fiat Uno. Our plans involve a cheap B&B stay, which we'll get further discounted thanks to an Italian-style spaghetti dish cooked by none other than myself (passing myself off as an expert chef) for the very kind Danish family. It was the first time we travelled using B&Bs and I must say I still have very good memories of it. NB: available families are very easy to find at the tourist information offices dotted along the motorway. In Copenhagen the usual sightseeing and we also find time for a stop at the beach among hundreds of Danish families fearlessly braving the icy northern waters.
We couldn't pass up a visit to the squatted district of Christiania, where we run into the inevitable scuffle between stray dogs and the equally classic offer of various additives. We have just enough time for a photo with the Royal Guard at Amalienborg, and then off we go: the ferry to Sweden awaits us...(continued)
