The story

Prague is without doubt one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The old town is stunning; as it happens it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The most notable architectural styles are: art nouveau, baroque, cubism, gothic, neoclassical and ultra-modern. The city's landmark is Charles Bridge. Other important sights are: the castle, the royal palace (inside the castle), Týn Square, some places linked to Franz Kafka, Malá Strana, Hradčany with St Vitus Cathedral, and Wenceslas Square, where the National Museum is also located. The best view over the city is from the tower of the royal palace; if you are interested in views, the tower of Charles Bridge and the Church of Our Lady before Týn also deserve a visit.

Public transport is very efficient and punctual. Still affordable compared with other European capitals. (opinion from summer 2007). Walking around the streets is fairly safe, though some areas are frequented by drunks and tramps. I saw quite a few near the National Museum.
