Croatia The cruise ship stops at Ragusa, now called Dubrovnik. Miriana, Martina, Michela and I go ashore by tender, which drops us on the quay at the edge of the walls of the old city, recently bombed in the war against Milosevic. Here thousands of people suddenly arrive, pouring off the cruise ships lying offshore, and leave just as quickly. But when they're all ashore, my goodness, you can't walk. I reckon the shopkeepers do a roaring trade. The Atlantic coast looks lovely in the bay, surrounded by little boats on the flat sea. I take several photos because it's a living painting. The second time I go to Dubrovnik is on the Costa Serena ship, and that was no more than 2 months ago, May '09. This time I'm with my Australian friend Mark O'Brien; we go ashore again, a repeat of the previous time for me, so I slip away and settle on a rock to watch the sea. Bye
