sailing the Croatian sea, with a sailboat and sailor friends.
Our boat Kamila, a 42-foot Bavaria, was perfect for this trip of about 80 nautical miles sailing the Croatian seas, starting from POLA, stopping one night on the island of UNIJE, in a bay sheltered from the wind and very atmospheric. We then reached LUSSINO PICCOLO (Mali Lošinj) for a beautiful evening and set off in the morning for MARTINSCICA, a small unspoilt town on the island of Cres with an excellent restaurant. The crew is made up of GIANLUCA (captain) DIEGO, FABIO, FRANCESCO, SIMONE and FABIO

Day 12 Jun 2005
Arrival in Pola, nautica VITO
The arrival in Pula was calm; having arrived at the Pula marina, we carried out all the checks on the boat, we made sure all the on-board equipment was present, and that the devices and sails were impeccable. Thanks to our expertise, we managed to uncover a problem with the anchor and a problem with the mainsail, promptly fixed by the staff of Vito nautica. I recommend that if you charter a boat, always check all the equipment and systems to guarantee maximum safety for the whole crew. After 1 hour of checks and technical repairs we were ready to set off, the boat was impeccable and the berths were like a hotel, a spacious kitchen and plenty of space outside and in the dinette; after all, it's still a 13-metre boat.

Day 22 Jun 2005
arrival on UNIJE island, stop in UNIJE bay
Unije is a lovely little island with a small centre, it has a very beautiful beach, and a bay east of the island ideal for mooring boats; we ate at one of the two little restaurants on the island, fish, and it was certainly an excellent choice given the quality and given the price. In the evening we slept in the bay in an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquillity. The crew is in good spirits.

Day 33 Jun 2005
departure for Lussino Piccolo or Mali Losinj
After setting off again from UNIJE, we made a few stops for wonderful swims in fantastic little coves; the water was at a temperature of about 23 degrees, and the visibility was amazing, roughly 12 - 14 metres. Freediving here was very beautiful. We reached Mali Losinj, or Lussino Piccolo, around midday, and after a little wander around the town we went back on board for lunch near a wonderful little inlet with transparent water. In the evening we returned to port to spend the evening in town; Mali Losinj in fact has much more to offer for young people with little bars and restaurants and many ice-cream parlours and bars along the seafront. We had a pleasant evening eating in a family-run restaurant where, as usual, they served us excellent dishes with good value for money. We slept there, moored at the quay in Mali Losinj.
LUSSINO PICCOLO
Day 44 Jun 2005
departure from lussino piccolo for martinscica - Island of Cherso
With the captain we planned, obviously based on the wind and the distance, a trip to the town of Martinscica on the island of Cres. This little strip of sand always facing south has minimal infrastructure, but a nice little harbour and excellent restaurants, one in particular at the top of a house from where you can savour a remarkable panorama. Here too there's always excellent value for money for food. The town is small but comfortable, ideal for a retreat in the tranquillity of the sea and the sun. A great swim and dives off the pier in the evening. In the evening we sleep in port, thanks to a wind that doesn't allow us to stay in unsheltered places.

Day 55 Jun 2005
return to pola, braving the quarnaro in a force 3 sea
This boat is a marvel, it holds the sea and with a bit of wind it goes like a dream, 12 knots at top speed with sails unfurled, and rough seas for a spicy return to the port of Pula. I must say I enjoyed myself; the rougher the sea, the more fun there is in being a sailor. Someone left the usual trace in the sea;-) but on the other hand we really had fun sailing hard. One day out of four of fireworks removed the patina and dust from our intrepid spirits hungry for adventure and adrenaline. See you next time
