Istria

We based ourselves in Rovinj, finding an apartment to rent there. For anyone who doesn't intend to have an exclusively seaside holiday but also wants a starting point from which to then tour Istria, I recommend doing as we did. We chose Rovinj because it's central within Istria. Before arriving in the town, we stopped to ask whether an apartment could be found there in the area and voilà... found one at 45 euros a night, an apartment with two bedrooms, a kitchenette etc... We only used the kitchenette for breakfast, since for dinner in Croatia you have exceptional fish feasts, spending half what you would in Italy.

We visited (worth it): Rovinj - the jewel of Istria - a walk through the town streets, a panoramic boat trip around the islands and the "Lim Fjord" (a channel that enters inland from the sea as if it were a Norwegian fjord). Pula - only the old part near the amphitheatre is worth visiting Brijuni National Park - boat trip Porec - a walk through the town and a visit to the Basilica

Even though I'd brought my diving gear, for lack of time I knew I wouldn't use it. A shame. Between Rovinj and Pula there are lots of wrecks to visit. It'll be a reason to come back... for anyone interested, take a look at the site:
