Zlatni Rat in Bol - The most beautiful beach in Croatia The charm of Croatian beaches was once a secret known to only a chosen few. The calm of Croatia is now a highly sought-after holiday destination that is growing in popularity every year. One of the most unique beaches is Zlatni Rat, a narrow spit on the island of Brac. Known as the Golden Horn, Zlatni Rat is a clear pebble beach, popular with tourists for its original landscape and ever-changing shoreline.

The winds of the Adriatic Sea make Zlatni Rat a popular place for both bathers and surfers. It's easy to stay cool with the warm breezes and sea spray that wrap around those relaxing on the beach from the three corners of the Golden Horn. Likewise, windsurfers can make the most of the gentle westerly winds.

The beach is equipped with sun loungers, parasols and pedal boats that can be rented. Similarly, tourists can take advantage of the shade offered by a dense grove of pine trees in the middle of the beach. Naturists can also enjoy Zlatni Rat in the western bays of Paklina.
Zlatni Rat is most popular in mid-summer. Those who are able to visit it in June or September have the best chance of enjoying a warm, dry holiday without sharing the beach with too many other people. The beach is accessible all year round, but the facilities, including lifeguards, are only available from May to October. Like most beaches in Croatia, Zlatni Rat is made up of pebbles rather than sand. So it's advisable to use the usual rock shoes.

Zlatni Rat is located near Bol. The oldest town on the island, it has a large selection of restaurants and cafe-bars at reasonable prices. Since Zlatni Rat is undoubtedly the town's most notable tourist attraction, there are a number of businesses catering to those visiting the beach. Some of these include scuba diving companies and windsurfing lessons for beginners who want to try this favourite activity.
A trip to Zlatni Rat is characterised by days at the beach, but there's much more to this paradise than the smell of salt water and a hot, beating sun. Rent a scooter or a bicycle in Bol to explore the town. Stop at a local bar to try the Bolski Plavac, an herb-infused wine, a local speciality. Travel to the Blaca hermitage, an ancient and picturesque monastery. The Dominican monastery of Bol also offers a break from the midday sun with its museum, gallery and garden.
