The story

Reaching Bulgaria overland in 1979 was still an adventure. The border with Yugoslavia, the fearsome main road that crosses the whole of Yugoslavia with the columns of Turks returning home for the holidays, the Bulgarian border and the surprising arrival in the square of Sofia's cathedral. Then the Valley of Roses and finally the Black Sea at Burgas and Sozopol. The invasion of Czechs and Poles with their Tatra, Skoda, Lada and Wartburg cars. The queues to buy a little bread and a small ice cream. Probably today it is all changed.
