During a tour of Croatia I made a short bus trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Leaving late in the evening from Ploce in Croatia, I reached Sarajevo in the early morning. The bus dropped me off in front of the railway station, which clearly bore the marks of sniper fire. The actual historic centre, on the other hand, seems not to have been particularly affected by the war, but it offers nothing that could justify a journey all the way here. On the way back towards Ploce I stopped in Mostar. This city was a building site and the famous humpbacked bridge had not yet been rebuilt. From here I returned to Ploce, where I continued my visit of Croatia. Heading towards the Croatian enclave of Dubrovnik I passed along a stretch of road in the Neum area, Bosnia and Herzegovina's only outlet to the sea. This transit also happened on the way back. There are no borders along this stretch of road.
