The story

The Albanian Riviera has become more popular in recent years; many tourists want to discover more about this destination. Some of the most exotic and interesting beaches in Albania are Dhermi, Jal, Himara, Qeparo, Borsh, Saranda and Ksamil.

The town of Saranda is the most populous urban area of the Albanian Riviera and is a very large tourist destination. The town is well located on the coast just 9 km from the Greek island of Corfu. Daily ferries provide links between Saranda and Corfu, making this southern Albanian town a good base for European and international tourists.

Krorez Beach near Saranda, Albania Along Saranda you'll find some smaller beaches such as Central and Liman. Ksamil, which lies between the Ksamil peninsula and the Butrint lagoon, is one of the most visited places in the world.

Ksamil is one of the most popular tourist destinations, and is about 30 minutes from Saranda by bus. Here await some of the best beaches in Europe with turquoise water and white sand. There are several bays you can go to. It's quite crowded here in July and August.

Dhermi is one of the most visited and important tourist spots along the Albanian coast. The crystal-clear waters, the secluded beaches, the water sports and the diving make this beach a favourite with the younger generations. The various beaches that are part of Dhermi are Jaliksari, Shkambo and Gjipea.

Gjipea beach has a beautiful shape. This is a stream that has carved out a canyon with walls 70 metres high. Located near Dhermi beach is the pirates' cave, which can only be reached by boat or ferry. There are also restaurants and summer clubs located nearby.

Throughout this area, family tourism has grown; tourists can choose to rent or stay in a variety of hotels. Near Himara, 8 km south of Dhermi, you'll find the village of Vuno, which is the central area of the Albanian Riviera. It's a tourist town that comes to life during the summer season.

In this area there are the beaches of Spile, Potam, Llamaniand and Livadhja. All stand out for their deep waters, their navigability and their rocky features. After Borsh comes Qeparo and the small tectonic gulf of Porto Palermo, where the castle of Ali Pasha is found.

Borsh is one of the largest areas of the Albanian Riviera, protected by a massive collection of Mediterranean vegetation, mainly citrus groves and olive plantations. Tourism has also become very popular in this area. Between here and the town of Saranda are the beaches of Kakome and Krokëy, with crystal-clear water.
