The story
Quintana Roo is one of the 31 States of Mexico located in the eastern part of the Yucatan Peninsula. It borders to the north and west with the states of Yucatan and Campeche, to the east with the Caribbean Sea and to the south with Belize. The name comes from Andrés Quintana Roo, a patriot of the Mexican republic. The region occupied by this state was one of the areas most populated by the Maya. Many believe that this is the most beautiful part of the country. Here are also the imposing Maya ruins: together with the Aztecs and the Incas, the Maya were the most important civilisers of pre-Columbian America.
