The story

Akumal

Splendid beach for total immersion in relaxation.

Coba (Cobá in Spanish)

A beautiful Maya archaeological site set in the jungle. The founding of the Maya city is dated to 300-600 AD and the most important structural changes should be dated to 1000-1450 AD. Besides the beautiful pyramids which, precisely because of the marks left by time, make the visit more fascinating, the site is worth visiting for the Maya ball court, where they played the Juego de Pelota. The Nohoch Mul pyramid is, with its 42 metres, the tallest to be found in the Yucatan. It is made up of seven tiers with rounded corners and two stairways on the south side.

Tulum

The ruins of Tulum look directly out over splendid white Caribbean beaches. The beauty of the contrast between the ruins and the sea makes this visit memorable.

Cenotes

This part of Mexico has no rivers or lakes on the surface because the nature of the terrain does not allow it. The rivers exist, but they flow beneath the ground. This leads to the creation underground of a myriad of crevices in which the rivers flow or veritable lakes form with splendid caves (the famous Cenotes). Absolutely a must, for those who are not divers, is the excursion with masks and fins to Dos Ojos. The clarity of the water is astonishing. It feels like being suspended in the void. The water temperature is moreover a constant 24°C all year round.

Playa del Carmen

In ancient times it was a fishing village. Now it is a tourist crossroads where, besides a beautiful white beach (although I prefer the area further north), you can spend the evening in one of the many venues along the main streets.

Xelhà

It is a park where you can pleasantly spend a day. The chance to swim with dolphins and to snorkel while being carried along by the current.
