The story

Hi everyone, let me tell you my story, a bit long but I hope you'll enjoy it. I worked in an office, let's say almost a government one (I can't give its name), and after a good eight years I was truly tired of a life that satisfied me not one bit! Yes, I'd wake up in the morning, an hour and a half of traffic, and I'd arrive at my workplace already exhausted, only to leave after eight hours of work and sit through just as much traffic again. In short, enough! I quit! And so I did, and I said to myself, now what do I do? OK, I'll take a nice holiday with my severance money. I searched the internet and I see — I was undecided between Brazil and the Dominican Republic, in the end I opt for the Dominican Republic.

I look at a few of the most famous places, but honestly a resort holiday doesn't appeal to me, and so in the end my search landed on a little town called Las Terrenas, in the province of Samaná, in the north of the island. OK, I pack my bags and set off. For how long? A month. Yes, I want to make the most of my holiday, and so I did. I arrived in Santo Domingo and a guy said to me, come on, I'll take you to Las Terrenas. I didn't know he was waiting for me, and well, a little scared I got into the car and he drove me all the way to Las Terrenas, about two and a half hours of driving. When I arrived it was night and I couldn't see a thing, I couldn't see the colour of the sea and many other things. I get to the hotel and go to sleep; it was about 4 in the morning. At 7 I open my eyes and I was so curious that I got up to go and have breakfast and to see what this place is like.

Well, what can I tell you, I was truly shocked to see the colours of the sea, the vegetation all around and so many other colours in the background, the people always smiling. In short, I said to myself, this is paradise. For the first two weeks of the holiday I spent my time by the sea, with the friends I made there and dancing in the evening. I began to explore the island; I went to see the whales (a unique experience) — every year whales from all over the world gather and come to breed in the bay of Samaná in February and March. Having seen that, I went to see the wonderful beaches of Las Galeras, Playa Coson, El Limon, in short so many unspoilt places near Las Terrenas, simply splendid. At the end of the holiday I went home with a single thought: I want to live in a place like this.

And right now I'm writing to you from there, and now that I've been living in this lovely place for more than a year I can tell you that I've travelled almost all of the Dominican Republic, but in my humble opinion Las Terrenas has the best beaches on the island. I hope that sooner or later you too find a place where you can live your life to the full as I am doing! Best wishes to everyone from Las Terrenas

Andrea
