My first trip to the American continent and the Caribbean was to Cuba. A land of strong contrasts and a source of inspiration for many writers, poets and artists in general, this land offers tourists some truly remarkable natural and artistic beauties. Being the largest of the Caribbean islands and having lived through various eras of colonisation, its territory (which stretches from east to west) contains many interesting and at the same time different places. In the streets of Cuba you can still breathe the air of the revolution and patriotic pride, yet you feel the melancholy of a reality full of daily hardship.
Unforgettable memories: the smiles and cheerfulness of the children; the melancholy of Cuban songs; the beautiful Havana, its Malecon and the American cars of the 50s and 60s; the Pinar del Rio region with its peaks wrapped in nature; the sea and the tranquillity of Cayo Guillermo and Cayo Coco.
