The story

Tour Operator: Press Tour Place of stay: Varadero - Hotel Los Delfines Places you absolutely must see: Havana, Trinidad and all the little towns inland where even the tourist can see the real Cuba!... without forgetting to bask in the sun on one of the many beautiful beaches like that of Cayo Blanco! stunning! Period: August isn't one of the best... we escaped the hurricanes and spent 15 days in the sun at 37 degrees... but you have to be careful! Cuba has an unequalled uniqueness... no place resembles it...no place has its contradictions...Travelling to Cuba means being catapulted into a reality distant and very different from the one we're used to; at some moments and in some situations it feels like living in a film from our fifties; time seems to have stopped and not to want to move on... everything is preserved, little changes...

and in this sentence I've described the positive side of an island that keeps the charm of old flavours intact but that, on the other hand, doesn't move forward and doesn't take great strides to evolve. Cubans survive; they have free food and education but they don't, for example, have the right of ownership over their home...they have difficulty leaving their country if not for professional reasons... and their limits in this respect are evident... Havana alone is worth the trip to Cuba; it's an enchanted city where an ancient air hovers... the little alleys...the colours, the smells, the true flavour of Cuba... walking you have the sensation of being projected far back in time... every now and then some character comes up to you with a cigar or with a newspaper with Fidel's photo clearly printed on it...

Even Trinidad, a UNESCO heritage site, is absolutely worth seeing!! Like all the little villages you meet along the way where you see the real Cubans, their slow and calm way of living... there's never any hurry in Cuba... Varadero, although a tourist oasis, keeps its magnificent beach and its spectacular sea intact.....whoever decides to go to Cuba must anyway leave the five-star resorts to go deep into an island that offers, besides the crystal-clear sea, a great many unmissable places to visit...!!! Purchases you absolutely must make: many, many bottles of Havana... and other rums of various kinds, there are some for everyone and for every taste!! Happy Cuba to everyone!!
