Playa Costa Verde
Diary of a trip to Playa Costa Verde (Cuba)
My wife Angela and I set off for Cuba on April 21st through Lets and of course we checked some weather sites to find out the forecast for that area and I must say that they turned out to be very accurate. At the airport, the people from the tour operator "Un altro sole" were waiting for us, certainly little known but which proved to be serious and reliable. The transfer took place in a comfortable bus and within the times described. Upon our arrival at the Playa Costa Verde village we were welcomed into a very large, cozy structure full of every comfort. There was everything from a fully equipped gym with Yoga classes, several hot tubs, pedicure, to a huge pool, 4 restaurants one of which was a buffet, and countless bars scattered around the village and on the beach.
The rooms were large and comfortable, with even an iron and ironing board! The village was very green, well cared for and at times it felt like being in a botanical garden. The beach was 100 meters away, reached via a little bridge that spanned a natural pond. The beach and the sea are enchanting, nothing like those of Havana or Varadero: the beach is very white and fine while the sea has splendid colors: enchanting! The cuisine deserves a special mention because the food was truly excellent. Especially the fish: lobster, prawns, squid and fresh catch of the day to your heart's content and very fresh, and you can consider my opinion reliable because I have boat fishing as a hobby and I can recognize fresh fish. Also at the Cuban restaurant (always included in the All Inclusive) we ate very well (lobster) and at the Japanese one, with splendid presentation, we enjoyed good cuisine.
Not to mention the excellent bars, one of which was very well stocked, serving excellent cocktails at all hours. The resort provided books, games, fins and masks, canoes, pedal boats, windsurfing, catamarans, bikes, all always free. In short, we really felt great at this village that offered every premise for a vacation devoted to relaxation. Then we discovered that Alpitour was sending its own clients there. The guests were 80% Canadians but there were also Italians, French, English and Germans. We had such a good time that we didn't feel the need to take excursions except for the one to Guardalavaca and Playa Esmeralda, two other nearby splendid beaches, with a shuttle for which we paid only 5 pesos (4 euros!).
This is meant as a tribute to a vacation that fully satisfied us, which I hope may be useful to all those who, like us, before setting off want to be sure they won't get ripped off, and when everything goes well and you're satisfied it's only right to give credit to those who contributed to that result. The only flaw on the return to Italy was with the shuttles for the affiliated Ciglione Parking Malpensa, which made us wait 45 minutes in the sun before sending a shuttle to pick us up.
