Sea and relaxation on the perfect island of Koh Tao!
Day 125 Aug 2005
Arrival in Koh Tao
We take the flight to Koh Samui. Here the music changes! (Don't change money at the airport but at any bank, and above all haggle over the taxi price because here there are no meters). We get dropped off at the Menam pier. From here we move by Lomprayah catamaran to Koh Tao, the diving island. Once we arrive at Mae Haad, the shuttle from the Coral Grand Resort awaits us, where we have booked a cottage. This resort has the advantage of being in Sairee Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches, it's a step away from Nangyuan, it's near the somewhat lively area of the island (very quiet compared to Samui) and it has electricity and hot water almost all day, which not all resorts give you. We dive straight into the water and let the sun kiss us until sunset.

Day 226 Aug 2005
Sea and relaxation, just what we needed!
Absolute relaxation (after a year of work it's needed!!). In the evening we get taken to the south of the island, more precisely to Baan Kao seafood at Ko Tao Resort, where we'll have real feasts of fish.

Day 327 Aug 2005
The perfect bay: Ao Leuk
We rent a scooter and explore the island along dirt roads that are truly impassable for scooters; one of them leads to Ao Leuk, that is, the perfect bay!! A small, uncrowded bay with white sand, crystal-clear water and countless fish. Stunning!

Day 428 Aug 2005
Around the island
In the company of Fabrizio and Michela from Parma (whom we met at the resort) we rent a taxiboat to tour the island (1500 baht for the whole day). We'll stop again at Ao Leuk (the most beautiful bay on the island); after about an hour we resume the tour and stop to snorkel at Hin Wong, followed by a stop at the beautiful Mango Bay, where we'll have lunch on a terrace perched above the bay (super panorama!). The Mango Bay Resort is the only resort in the bay and is accessible only by sea!! Last stop Nangyuan, three little islands joined by small strips of very white sand. By now super touristy, the islands are closed to tourists at 5 p.m. (you pay 100 baht for entry) and only guests of the single resort of Nangyuan can stay.
In the evening we go to Sairee Village, first to Choppers, a pub, to watch the motorcycle world championship and the legendary Valentino Rossi; after that we go to eat at La Matta (excellent Italian cuisine). The time has come to say goodbye to Fabrizio and Michela because the next day we'll move on to Samui.

Day 529 Aug 2005
Goodbye Koh Tao
A very early wake-up to pack the bags. We move on to Samui in search of a bit of action, but with the regret of leaving an island that gave us unforgettable moments.
