Bangkok is a truly engaging city, with its colours, smells, crowds, chaos, pollution and fascinating monuments. It's a city that never sleeps, that never stops under any circumstances, not even during an afternoon downpour that would have paralysed one of our cities. People are the thing that struck me most about Bangkok: they're incredible. Always active, never tired even at two in the morning. They're always looking for a deal, always selling you something, always giving you "wrong" information to get you to take their taxi or tuc-tuc, even at the cost of making you miss your visit. It isn't easy to adapt to the rhythm and the insistent requests; it takes 2-3 days and then you'll manage to enjoy the city better, without hysterics and without letting yourself panic. Incredible massages, relaxing, invigorating, for a few euros and practised everywhere and obviously at all hours.
Eating rice and vegetables at the stalls is an experience you'll tell your grandchildren about later, such as the Chinese night market where anything is possible: you'll haggle over the purchase of fake Rolexes starting from €100 and ending at €10 while around you sex shows of every kind are going on. Bangkok: maybe one day we'll meet again!
