I had gone to Beijing with my university, and this trip, which I absolutely couldn't miss, was organised at the last minute. Heading ever further north I noticed how the poverty among the people increased and how sanitation became ever scarcer. The Mongolians aren't very hospitable towards Westerners; however, I moved in a group, so I didn't feel their strong detachment much. We were about thirty. I fulfilled many of my dreams: flying, riding a camel, sleeping in a Mongolian tent, it was all sensational. I would never have imagined that, when I was studying geography in middle school and learning about the Gobi desert and the steppe, one day I would go there... life's surprises, and they really are such a pleasure. The landscapes on the steppe were sensational, beautiful, with those plays of light and those vast open spaces.
My boyfriend and I rented a quad; it was great fun and also convenient, because we could get around a lot and take quite a few photos. A holiday within a holiday, unforgettable. I recommend it.
