The story

Here we are again....11 months later, still inside a dream we pull ourselves together, we choose a new island, from another tour operator; landing at Male is always special; ending up in Sri Lanka, a place of such unique greenery, it looks like a tropical forest!! The emotion is strong...a bit as if time had stopped; the boat taking us to Digghiri at 57 knots really races, planing over the water, and we see the Rannalhi appear on our right, all just as 11 months earlier, the sky a little overcast but everything the same, the Bar always there, the Diving...but this time the boat keeps speeding on its way....

Digghiri, a very tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean; we're talking about an island the size of a FOOTBALL pitch, 200 MT x 50 MT wide, you go round it in a matter of minutes, a pearl, the island very well looked after, with staff who not only clean the beach every 24 hours but go around "levelling" every little bit of the island to keep the sand "flat". Another very handy thing about this resort is the time....in the Maldives it always gets dark at about 17:50, it's not like here where in summer the days are long and in winter short; we're near the equator, so between summer and winter the hours of day and night don't change.

The Room is beautiful, entirely in wood, they give us the one we'd asked for when booking, a wooden four-poster bed, almost shell-like, the little house entirely in coral, a veranda that leaves you with a breathtaking view of the ocean less than 5 metres from the sea. The resort is very small but very well kept and cared for down to the smallest detail, suitable for couples who want a holiday of absolute rest and to enjoy the sea and relaxation in every way. We get up on the first morning and see the "tongue" of sand that forms like a "jetty" in front of us to a little islet you can reach on foot to admire our island from a little distance, and it's fantastic to be in the middle of the ocean ALONE on a little strip of sand 5 metres by 10 and look around and see and hear nothing but sea...

I continue my underwater adventure, going on this time with the advanced certificate, much less demanding and genuinely beautiful. In the dives I saw everything, from a wonderful turtle to the moray eel, to them, the kings of the Seas, the Sharks circling you, swimming with a frightening elegance, with that skin of such a glossy colour that it turns it all into a dream. The food is good, the bar even more so with its snacks to sip a cool drink in that view that doesn't leave you sure where to look. Also very beautiful is the boat trip to watch the sunset over the ocean; it's really worth it and wonderful!! but here too...the week flies by...and it's already time to go home.... If you want to see the photos or watch the video you can find it here. You can also listen to part of a radio interview of mine about the Maldives with tips.

But...will there be a Maldives 2008? you'll find out later.... Byeee
