From Bangkok you reach Denpasar with a Thai Airways flight in about 4 hours. We stayed at the Bali Tropic Resort, in the southern part of the island of Bali, Nusa Dua. Our guide is a typical local woman, always smiling and helpful. You can easily get around the island by renting just about any vehicle, but we decided to rely on our tour operator for the various excursions, with the exception of the visit to Bedugul (the scenery of the temple on the lake is spectacular) and Tanah Ayun (the temple of Mengwi). The best of the excursions is without a doubt the rafting descent of the Ayung, done with the specialist company Sobek, immersed in an explosive nature, in the rain; the feelings it gave us are indescribable.
The visit to Kintamani, in the north-central part of the island, reminds us of its volcanic nature, and the landscapes you can take in while sitting comfortably in one of the many restaurants in the area are truly remarkable. Needless to say, the most beautiful temples to visit, both by the sea, are only those of Uluwatu (the temple of love) and Tanah Lot, that is, the most famous images of Bali in the world. Not to be missed is the typical Balinese show, with masks and expressions unlike any other performance in the neighbouring Asian countries.
