China. Millennia-old. Poetic. Enchanting. Rich in monuments and ancient remains. With this trip we tried to capture a representative picture of Chinese reality, seeking to make it unique and unforgettable. We visited the three great capitals that hold the whole history of millennia-old China. Beijing, the capital of the North and the current capital, with its treasures. Chang'an (Xi'an), the ancient capital of the Kingdom, the ancient terminus of the Silk Road and cradle of the Terracotta Army. Nanjing, the old capital, the capital of the South. Then we made a nod to a celebrated, ultra-modern and historic metropolis, Shanghai. We passed through poetic Guilin with its fairy-tale landscapes. Guilin means "Forest of osmanthus".
When these are in bloom, their sweet scent fills the whole area, completing the enchantment of the rocky peaks, dotted with delightful pavilions spread over the green plain, furrowed by the river and the canals. We did not fail to visit Suzhou, the Venice of the East, city of wonderful Chinese gardens and silk embroidery. The Lingering Garden, the Garden of Harmony, the Garden of the Master of the Nets are some of the more than 150 gardens of Suzhou, the most beautiful gardens in China, with their pavilions, temples, ornamental rocks, ponds, canals, typical little bridges of stone and wood, and vegetation, trees and flowers.
NOTE: the journey continues to HONG KONG "Crossroads of Asia" and to JAPAN "Japanese panorama".
