From Laos to Cambodia.... a short hop, but here.... it really is a whole other world. We had settled in so well amid the slow passing of the Laotian days that, catapulted into an ocean of tourists, at first we feel disoriented. And indeed.... Cambodia, and above all the temples of Angkor, are no longer a land of conquest for explorers and adventurers. Here by now everything is planned to welcome big groups and millions of people every year. On the other hand, the monumental complex of Angkor is astonishing, far richer and vaster than you could imagine. Leaving aside the icons, Angkor Wat and the Bayon, simply monumental......breathtaking, from dawn to sunset in tuk tuk we let ourselves be carried away by the taste of beauty, rubbing our eyes at what the Khmer empire managed to create. And after so much beauty and admiration for how ingenious man can be........
it takes a moment to sink into the deepest bitterness..... and at every step, in Cambodia, even more strongly, you realise how short-sighted, cruel.... truly out of his mind, to say the least, man can be...... The experience was not enough.... there, just around the corner, of the Khmer Rouge... murderers of their own children............here are a few million Mine......how many still unexploded???.....how we had missed them...... I will carry on, we will carry on travelling the world.... and I hope that the world, meanwhile, along with us, does not forget!!!
