In this brief aside of mine I make an exception. In general I never claim things that don't belong to me, but how can I not say that I have seen one of the main attractions of Tanzania, if not the most famous one, even though I have never set foot in the country. In fact, during my trip to Kenya (see the relevant itinerary) I had the luck to find myself before the spectacle of Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain on the African continent, the highest free-standing peak in the world. I had reached its famous slopes the day before, in Kenya's Amboseli Park, but the clouds had completely hidden it. The following morning, however, as if by magic, the mountain revealed itself, mighty, with its snow-capped summit defying the heat of the equator. Early in the morning it was blurred by mist, but as the hours passed the view became ever sharper on the horizon.
Not even a cloud hindered the view on this splendid day. If from Amboseli it is beautiful to see it in symbiosis with the herds of elephants, the most beautiful spot to take a photo was near a place on the border with Tanzania.
