Even though we knew that Zanzibar airport was a disaster, we would never have imagined such a disastrous arrival... but the departure was worse!! The DoubleTree By Hilton village is fairly new, the rooms spacious, the pool small and the beach protected by a large, high wall against the tide and storm surges. Next to the resort is the fishing village of Nungwi, with dozens of boats that set off every day to fish and deliver the fish to the little market on the beach. The weather was fine for 5 of the 7 days and the holiday was pleasant thanks to my travel companions, also because the village entertainment (Marevero) left quite a lot to be desired and the resort had no entertainment of its own. Zanzibar is a piece of Africa I wanted to visit after having already been to Kenya, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it, even though I didn't have a bad time and the sea is very warm...
