Mafia Island: In Pursuit of the Whale Shark

A very carefully planned trip but decided in just one week. We wanted a destination off the usual tourist circuits and one that would hold surprises for us.......and it did!! The sighting and snorkelling with the whale shark is incredible. we stayed at the Mafia lodge, a spartan but comfortable hotel in the true spirit of this wild island steeped in nature. Our tour operator was evolution travel, to whom it is not the first time we have turned; Walter and Daniela, our consultants, are experts on the island of Mafia and they really advised us very well. The flight was from Rome to Doha and then on to Der El salam, always with Qatar. There a little propeller plane landed us on Mafia. The budget was around 3000 euros and I recommend this wonderful island to anyone who is a diving enthusiast like my husband
