South Africa, Phalaborwa I'm accompanying 4 friends. With British Airways from Pisa, changing at Heathrow, and an overnight flight to Johannesburg. The next morning we pick up a 5-seat Toyota - a bit cramped, to tell the truth - and after a stop at Sun City we drive to Phalaborwa, to enter Kruger Park and sleep at Letaba, a splendid state camp that I'd visited several times. And here something happens that I'd never have expected: I get a kidney colic, so the tourists have to drive the minibus and take me to Phalaborwa hospital, where they treat me straight away. The next morning, after all the treatment, recovered at the hospital, we continue the trip, doing safaris and heading toward the south of the park. Hyenas, lions, giraffes, elephants and more fill our day. We stop at Skukuza and Pretoriuskop, then exit and stay overnight in a hotel at Nelspruit.
A fine dinner in the evening and then off to bed. The next morning we return to Johannesburg, where we fly to Cape Town. We visit a township, inside a black village where tourists don't usually go; I'm not too keen, but they insisted, and luckily all went well. Here the second part of our trip: a visit to the city and the waterfront, as well as the Cape of Good Hope and the penguin colony, and on the way back also Stellenbosch, full of vineyards. The visit to Table Mountain, with spectacular views, is unmissable too. The day after, Sea Point, then we hand back the car and fly to Johannesburg, with a connection to Italy. Bye
