The story

Day 1

Arrival and transfer to hotel

Day 2

Departure after breakfast to visit the Pink Lake, whose name comes from the pinkish colour of its waters, due to the presence of particular microorganisms; stop for lunch. In the afternoon continue to the city of Saint Louis. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel Palmeraie or similar.

Day 3

After breakfast, departure for the Dioudj bird park, classified as the third reserve in the world; visit to the park by pirogue (open from November to April). You will be able to admire, among other species: flamingos, ospreys, bitterns, herons, storks, ibises, ducks, stilts and various species of birds of prey, pelicans. Lunch in the park and return to Saint Louis. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4

After breakfast, a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city of Saint Louis, once the capital of Sénégal and of all the French colonies of West Africa. Lunch in a typical restaurant and continue to the Lompoul desert. A michoui dinner accompanied by drum rhythms from the boys of the village and overnight stay in a Bedouin tent.

Day 5

After breakfast, departure for the holy city of Touba, a sacred place of the Murid brotherhood, visit to its mosque, considered the most beautiful religious monument in West Africa. Lunch in Kaolack. Continue to Toubacouta. Arrival and settling into the hotel and a boat trip on the Saloum delta among the mangrove channels. Dinner and overnight stay at the Keur Saloum hotel or similar.

Day 6

After breakfast, departure for Joal, birthplace of the first president Senghor. Joal was the transit centre of the Portuguese. After lunch, visit to Fadiouth, an island where Catholics and Muslims share the same cemetery and a place with a percentage of 90% Christians. The two communities live in perfect harmony. Continue to Saly, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7

Free morning and lunch. In the early afternoon, transfer to the port of Dakar for the ferry to the island of Gorée. Visit to the island, a cultural heritage of humanity and a place of transit of slaves, small in size but of great historical importance. Free dinner on Gorée subject to flight times.
