The story

Namibia 2005 Briefly I'll recount one of the tours I accompanied this year. In this case I'm not guide number 1 but the assistant guide to Jaques, a white Namibian guy with a lot of experience behind him regarding nature, as he was also a government ranger for a few years. My main job is to translate from English into Italian and to drive one of the 2 minibuses. This is a tented tour, meaning we camp, and it lasts about twenty days. We are about a dozen. Departure from Windhoek towards the Fish River Canyon; every evening at the campsite we can wash at the showers available, and we eat great big meat barbecues all around the fire with the table laid and chairs brought along. Lüderitz is the second stop and gradually we climb north through scenery that is nothing short of enchanting. We also stop at a castle built by a German for his beloved, right on Ferragosto.

In the evening it's freezing cold; remember it's the height of winter there. A visit to the dunes of Sossusvlei, then Solitaire, the Naukluft Park, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and the Skeleton Coast with its seals at Cape Cross. At Twyfelfontein rock paintings, at Hobatere a walking safari with free-roaming lions, and on the border with Angola, passing through Opuwo, to the Epupa Falls. Finally a few days inside Etosha park for the last safari, then back to the capital, a good shower and everyone clean, at the farewell dinner. The next day, the airport and various goodbyes. bye
