We got back a week ago from a trip to Morocco and, thanks to the staff of Marocco Key Travel, it was an unforgettable experience. We did a 3-day tour accompanied by Brahim (Youssef's brother) and El Hassan our valiant driver. We left from Marrakesh heading for the magical dunes of Erg Chebbi. We crossed the theatrical Atlas mountains, where every bend reveals film-like scenery, descending to Ouarzazate, rightly considered the gateway to the desert, as well as the Moroccan Hollywood. Then we continued to the valley of roses, in El Kelaa M'Gouna to be precise, and luckily we happened to be there on the days of the famous festival with dances, processions and rose petals everywhere. Brahim also showed us the factory where the essences are distilled, the scent was fantastic!
The next day we continued the journey passing through the Todra gorges, it looks like the grand canyon!
In the late afternoon we finally arrived at our oasis in Erg Chebbi, where our dromedaries were waiting for us.
After some initial hesitation that dissolved immediately, (the dromedary is a tooo nice animal!) we ventured into the desert and there the magic began.
A moving landscape, time no longer exists, depending on the light the dunes take on different colours
After about an hour on dromedary-back we arrived at the Tuareg camp. We were welcomed with mint tea and under the stars we ate a stupendous tajine, truly unbelievable. And in the morning the dawn in the desert: A SPECTACLE!
Then the last day back towards chaotic Marrakesh.
All seasoned with the sympathy and, believe me, endless helpfulness of Brahim, and El Hassan. They were extremely kind, they even hosted us at their respective families' homes for a mint tea.
Moreover Youssef was in constant telephone contact with us making sure everything went as well as possible.
It was truly a trip among friends!
Thank you Youssef, Brahim and El Hassan for making me discover your fantastic land!
See you soon.
