Before starting our trip to Morocco, my wife and I consulted this and other internet forums to organise the journey. Although we were interested in what cities like Marrakech are like, we wanted to leave a bit of the typical tourist route; we had all sorts of doubts at the beginning, including whether to go with a guide or not, because we were going on our own, and in the end we decided to go with a guide. We found on a forum Radoin, a very nice Berber from the desert, and he sorted out the whole trip for us, because thanks to him, while visiting the sites that appear in the guides, I didn't have to wonder whether or not it was worth going. He stays in Marrakesh and we met him there; we spent a couple of days visiting the city, the Menara gardens and the famous Marrakech square.
From there we went towards the desert along the route of the past, visiting the kasbahs, Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, and coming at last to the desert, where, as you've heard many times, it's quite an experience for the visitor. There were Berber families with us in the desert and we enjoyed their great kindness and hospitality, which at times they seem to have forgotten. The route continues towards the Todra gorges, visiting Essaouira and the Ouzoud waterfalls. We were amazed by the variety of the landscapes and the good hotels and inns, for which we have to thank Radoin, because he is known throughout Morocco for his work. The truth is that it was 100% a success and we're very glad to have met him, because we found an authentic and very funny person, absolutely recommended. Morocco has a magic that fascinated us, and I believe no media either: either you like it or you don't.
And it's clear to us that we love it and want to do it again. I'll leave you the email of our guide: Radoin El Jakani: radoin.saharaexpeditions@gmail.com Web site: Phone: 00212670500914
