After a thousand hesitations, we chose an organised trip to Morocco, with a visit to the Imperial Cities and a week by the sea at Agadir. We wanted, in fact, a country full of culture and art, combined with the luxury that we wouldn't be able to afford who knows when, and a bit of sea. We had to rule out other parts of the world that interested us, because of the monsoons, and not Morocco, despite it being August, because we weren't going into the desert and we'd been told the dry heat would be perfectly bearable. In fact, apart from Casablanca, where the humidity prevailed, we had no problem anywhere. Sure, we always went out with sunglasses and a hat, but one day in Fès even my plastic hairband got warped, and... I only noticed it that evening! What can I say? Morocco is very beautiful and really worth it.
I, who had put the trip together almost entirely to see Marrakech, was deeply disappointed by it, whereas Fès seemed to me the most fascinating of the cities we visited, which are: Casablanca, Fès, Meknes, Rabat and Marrakech. We ate wonderfully, and in typical places for lunch: the meat is divine! Agadir, on the other hand, is just a little town made of hotels; the sky looked like that of our Po Valley and the sea... well, it was the ocean, so not pretty, cold and with very high waves. But the hotel was luxurious, we ate well here too, and we had paid very little for this extra week... of relaxation!
