Our trip began in Casablanca and continued towards Fez, a wonderful city... its medina is the oldest in all of Morocco.... a thousand little alleys and streets that seem never to end... absolutely not to be missed are the tanneries of Fez... from there we headed to Merzouga... the last little village before the desert.... we got ourselves organised and set off on our camels for a night in the desert... in a tent drinking green tea in our oasis... unforgettable.... Our trip continued towards Marrakech.. passing through the splendid Draa gorges. Needless to say, the charm of Marrakech and its souks is unimaginable... an unforgettable experience for anyone like me who loves shopping... and savouring the local cuisine at the thousand stalls that spring up at sunset in the main square, which by day is populated only by sellers of orange juice (exquisite) and snake charmers.
After 4 nights in the capital we headed to Essaouira... passing through Ouarzazate... Essaouira is a small town on the ocean... simply delightful... after two days spent in a splendid riad we reached our last stop... Casablanca... which certainly doesn't have the charm of the other cities but the Hassan II mosque is definitely worth a visit..... Overall the trip was simply wonderful... we even encountered snow crossing the Atlas... only to arrive in the capital and its 40 degrees. The charm of the desert is indescribable and only those who have been there can understand what I'm talking about.... the colours of the sand at sunset and dawn... the wind that creates beautiful patterns on the dunes are images I'll struggle to forget, and even the three hours on a camel were, so to speak... “thrilling”. To all this you must add a wonderful people, kind, polite... simply splendid...
haggling in the markets is an art... I came home with three suitcases full of lamps, plates, glasses, rugs,... practically everything I could buy...! And last but not least, the delicious Moroccan cuisine... not just couscous and tagine but a thousand dishes of different colours and flavours that can suit even the most demanding palates..... In short, the trip was wonderful... perhaps thanks to the person who was with me... a perfect traveller... perhaps thanks to this country that is capable of hosting you in the best possible way, letting you live unforgettable experiences even for someone like me who has travelled half the world!
