Jambo travellers,
...and who would ever have said it!!! I needed a holiday with a capital H, I was lucky to have a good travel companion (ORSOLA), and the idea that perhaps Africa would be the right destination.
I don't like "all inclusive" holidays where everything is pre-packaged and barely personalised, I don't like eating European food on the other side of the world, I don't like Europeans setting themselves up as experts on a country that isn't theirs, and so, thanks to my ease with the internet and a careful search for a holiday FOR ME, I start scouring the whole web far and wide.
There's plenty of information to be found about Kenya, about Watamu, about Malindi, about safaris in Tsavo East... all of it precious!!!
But this Thomas, THOMAS MBOYA, casts a spell on me.
All the travellers who have dealt with him use words of thanks that convey just how deeply this Africa has got into their blood, thanks to this GUIDE who, with his professionalism and his great love for Africa, makes you appreciate and LOVE his country and its people.
So I decide to put my trust in him! The only thing I did on my own was book the flight.
THOMAS MBOYA supported me in everything:
@ airport transfer
@ accommodation @ excursions @ safari
I admit it isn't easy to trust a stranger, and one who lives 7000 km away from me at that.
But THOMAS MBOYA had a sign waiting for us at the airport exit that made us feel at home right away.
Not to mention the accommodation... the photos of where he had us sleep are, I think, more than exhaustive
Once we arrived in WATAMU he welcomed us together with his friend and colleague SAMUEL PANTANI.
They showed us a photo catalogue describing the excursions offered by their agency. ALL BEAUTIFUL.
@ a day at the Falconry (a kind of zoo with reptiles of every kind, a giant tortoise and owls, little owls, falcons, etc.) + Jacaranda + Robinson Island + the big BAOBAB + Marafa top marks both for the places and the food (delicious crab, oysters, sea bass)
@ 2-day safari in Tsavo East by Jeep (what colours, how many animals spotted and how much laughter... ), a visit to a Maasai village and an overnight stay in a beautiful lodge
@ blue safari with a lobster lunch
@ Malindi: a visit to a wood-carving workshop - old town - market - beach
At this point all I can do is leave you to your dreams, and if by any chance you decide to take a trip to Kenya and want more details, I'll leave you my E-MAIL contact and Thomas Mboya's:
