Kenya

Finally January arrives and, after a long year of work, one fixed thought takes hold of us: to see again the land we love, all the people who care about us, our girls. We arrive on 29 January in Kenya and straight away in Watamu, about 25 km before Malindi; despite the tiredness we run to the beach to look for DIDA and SALIM, our lads; our eyes fill with tears, there they are, we see them, a big hug, so many questions, a great, immense joy is written on our faces; and off again into town to say hello and see again DIDA's wife AMINA and little FRANCESCA, and then on to SALIM's house to greet his wife MERY and little FATYMA. All together again here in KENYA. This year my wife and I decided to stay a month, precisely to test whether we were able to bear being away from our 2 children, MIRCO, 13, and MARTINA, 15. This is the only reason that brings us back to ITALY.

But despite that, the love that swept us away for KENYA, for its people - for the colours, the scents, the climate, the sense of freedom, the vegetation, the sunsets, the sea, and the list could go on forever - led us to a conclusion. In October 2009 we're going back to KENYA to sign the contracts for the place to rent, to run a small business that allows us to work and support ourselves, from October to April, then back to ITALY to work from May to September, and in October off we go again to KENYA. This year we had a wonderful month; many of our friends came to visit us from ITALY too, among them GAETANO, CATERINA AND LITTLE NICHOLAS, just 2 months old; they are our best friends.

We've been all round KENYA, and after 15 years of coming here I can tell you that the population is very peaceful, and above all the BEACH BOYS are excellent and reliable, more than the safaris or the villages. We know DIDA and SALIM very well; they, as you'll have understood, are our lads; we met them when they were 10 and 12 respectively, and now 10 years have passed; we put them through primary and secondary school, and then they decided to become beach lads, that is, the BEACH BOYS. You can trust them blindly, they're reliable and experienced and also very honest with their prices; with them you can do any kind of excursion: SAVANNA SAFARI, SEA SAFARI, TRIPS TO MALINDI, LAMU, MOMBASA, NAIROBI AND TO ALL THE LITTLE TOWNS ON THE COAST AND INLAND, SPEND NICE EVENINGS IN DISCOS, ETC. ETC.
