This year for my holidays I chose Kenya, a wonderful country with even more wonderful people. I set off from Bologna with Sandra and Gloria, who had told me so much about this magical country, about how a holiday in Kenya leaves you with a very strong emotion... and a great desire to go back!!!!
Gloria, one of my friends, is in love with Kenya... given that this is the sixth time she has been back!!! During her first holiday, almost twenty years ago, she met Jammy, a boy from Watamu. She had told me about him many times but finally this year I met him and got to enjoy some beautiful excursions together, given that he is an excellent tour guide!!!! Jammy took us to the beautiful Majungu, or Sardinia 2, and was so kind in accompanying Sandra, who is afraid of the sea... in fact they arrived first by motorbike and then on foot from the beach!!!! Legendary Jammy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An absolutely unforgettable experience was the safari in Tsavo East, again organised for us by Jammy. Up at dawn and then about two hours of driving... but it was worth it! The magnificent landscape with wonderful colours, from the red of the sand to the green of the savannah, the blue of the sky, and then a special welcome: before entering the park three elephants greeted us with their trunks raised. And indeed those elephants really did bring us luck; they were two magnificent days, we saw so many animals: zebras, lots of elephants, ostriches, gazelles, giraffes, monkeys, buffalo, most elegant giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and...
jaguars busy eating their lunch, lions and lionesses with their cubs! It was a wonderful experience and then, even though we were in the middle of the savannah, we went to sleep in a beautiful hotel, the Voi Wildlife Lodge, with a pool and magnificent rooms overlooking a small lake where we could see the animals drinking even more closely.
I have to say that in Italy I was undecided whether to take part in the safari or not, but Jammy changed my mind. He was a splendid guide; he gave us an unforgettable safari at a really good price, given that we stayed in a beautiful lodge. I just want to add that besides speaking excellent Italian, he is a very serious and reliable guy, so I would recommend anyone lucky enough to go on holiday in Kenya not to give up the safari for anything and to rely on Jammy!!!! If you want to contact him, here is his website: Contact him by email for any doubt or advice you need, you will find a super helpful person.
Now all I am left with is a great desire to go back... goodbye Jammy and goodbye Kenya!
