Magical Kenya... well, what can I say, the trip to Kenya isn't just a holiday, it's something more; it leaves you with emotions that all of us, sooner or later, should experience. We stayed in Watamu, at the Jacaranda Beach Resort, a lovely village, in an excellent position for the sea, since opposite there's Sardegna 2, a little white-sand islet that at low tide can be reached on foot. Spacious, clean rooms, almost all with a sea view, good food and a soft atmosphere. But the thing that stayed most in my heart is the safari that my boyfriend and I did with a truly unique guide, Jammy, a serious and reliable young man who managed to turn our holiday into a dream!! In fact Jammy organised us a three-day safari to Tsavo East and Amboseli. We set off from the Jacaranda with two other young people early in the morning and reached Tsavo East.
Straight away the landscape captivates you: the red sand, the first animals you spot, then instinct leads you to peer behind every tree to track down the animal you haven't seen yet... our driver, Salim, was exceptional, certainly because of his experience, but I can assure you we were always in the right place at the right time, and we even managed to see the cheetahs while they were hunting!!! We slept at the Voi Wildlife Lodge, a wonderful property; from our room we had a view over a little lake where the animals came to drink... a unique emotion to open the tent and be able to watch the elephants in their natural habitat!!! The following day we set off to reach Amboseli; the road isn't short, but the landscape before our eyes made us forget the tiredness!! Arriving at Amboseli we found a landscape totally different from Tsavo's...
arid expanses, herds of animals stretching as far as the eye could see; curiosity seizes us once again and the safari starts up again!! Fortune was on our side, in fact we managed to spot even the lions, as well as all the other animals such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impala, hyenas and jackals!!! At Amboseli we slept in a tented camp, the Kibo. It's fascinating to sleep in a tented camp, especially if it's as nice as this one... in fact in the tent there's everything you need: bathroom, shower and bed. It really is the right way to get in touch with the nature around you! On the third day, after the last visit to Amboseli park, we set off back to Watamu.
This safari will always remain among my best memories, and if any of you are thinking of visiting Kenya, I can only tell you not to miss this experience!! Jammy was a fantastic guide, he saved us a lot of money, and he took us to some truly beautiful places; moreover, speaking perfect Italian, he managed to make us truly experience the safari!! In short, if you want some advice, visit Jammy's website " and contact him by e-mail too; he'll be able to advise you and will organise you a truly dream holiday!! In Kenya they need tourism badly, and if you decide to go, take with you clothes you no longer use, pens, sweets; you'll see eyes light up and you'll never be able to forget the smile that the local people will give you!! Thank you Jammy and thank you Kenya!!!
