Watamu, Paradise on Earth

Departure from Rome FCO at 0.00, arrival in Mombasa at 10.30, start of the harrowing journey from the airport to the Aquarius; once we arrived dead tired the onslaught, about twenty beach boys all around, and it's right here that we met our GUARDIAN ANGEL Tony Manero, who from then to the end of the holiday "took us by the hand" and guided us through this beautiful and exciting experience. He was like a mother to us, when we wanted to go out (EVERY EVENING) to get a beer in a place called Come Back he came to pick us up at the village and walked us back. With him we did the 2-day safari to Tsavo East, wonderful; we even managed to see four cheetahs hunting a dik-dik, a raw but beautiful spectacle.

He took us to "Sardegna 2", wonderful; to have a barbecue in the middle of the sea we'd never have imagined it, and then the sea, forget the Maldives, then to see the mangroves and the pink flamingos we always ate lobster. We went to Malindi but I didn't like it that much, too chaotic, I prefer the small Watamu, warm and welcoming with all its inhabitants who by the second day greet you and call you as if you'd lived there all your life. There are no words to describe it all, I just know that we left a piece of ourselves there and that both the place and more than anything Tony Manero, Mister Blu (whom we called Bluetooth) and Abiba will always remain in our hearts.
