The story

Watamu and the Beach Boys Hello, my name is Federico and this year I chose Kenya as my holiday destination, more precisely Watamu, and I relied on Veratour. The resort (Crystal Bay) is beautiful, well looked after and above all clean, but to make all this possible there are local boys and girls working for 60 euros a month like slaves and with absurd hours, and above all with a manager who thinks slavery still exists and allows herself any attitude towards these people. The manager, Mrs Paola, whom all the locals call "Mamma Euro" for her vocation of bleeding her clients dry with exorbitant prices, lives in a world where slavery leaves time for human understanding of these people who, despite their working conditions, manage to be always kind and smiling.

Moreover she can't even spare more than a glance or a greeting for people who, like me, did their excursions with the Beach Boys - local people who know Kenya in all its details, kind and responsible. With them the excursions were wonderful and there was cheerfulness, good food (especially lobsters included in the price) and respect for a country that is all to be discovered, unlike those offered by Mamma Euro where, according to clients, every kind of difficulty arose (in her blue safari, no less, the village boat - "...the only one insured in Watamu...", which isn't true - nearly capsized on the coral reef, and to eat lobster you had to pay 2000 shillings on top of the excursion price, while on the safari in Tsavo East park the tents were dilapidated).

My advice to anyone going to Kenya is to rely on the Beach Boys without any fear at all, though Mamma Euro will paint them during the first day's briefing as dishonest people, disease carriers and thieves....

perhaps she should examine her conscience and look at herself more in the mirror and see what kind of person she really is; in fact the excursions I did with the Beach Boys were three: blue safari, Malindi and the 2-day safari in Tsavo East National Park (the hotel they use is in the middle of Tsavo park and is five-star) at 270 euros per person; the same excursions with Mamma Euro cost 430 euros to see the same things, to take the same routes, and I still have to understand this price difference???? What do you think???? I hope to make the choice easier for all the people who will go to Kenya, and to keep them from choosing Veratour as their tour operator, because after this experience I'll hardly take another trip with them. PS: as beach boys I strongly recommend Mimmo and Ali, two fantastic guys.... in short, a guarantee.

For any information on how to contact Mimmo, don't hesitate to ask me.
