I set off without a tour operator... I rely on my trusted agency in Kenya (anotherkenyasafari.com) to organise the safaris and all the accommodation in the parks, in Mombasa and Malindi.
I arrive in Mombasa on the 19th... and set off immediately for the first safari in TSAVO EAST, but entering from a different gate than last time. In this area too the park offers stunning landscapes and lots of animals to see!! We head for the VOI SAFARI LODGE... this lodge is big, set on a panoramic hill (from my room I could see the whole savannah) and you have the chance to see the baboons which, after stealing food from the kitchens, run off onto the roofs or along the lodge's corridors... really funny!! Here too, going down the hill, there is a small brick structure where you can photograph the elephants (which come to drink) at a distance of one metre. 20 Sept. morning departure for a tour of the park... then we head for AMBOSELI... we arrive at lunchtime at the KIBO CAMP tented camp... a large camp, with a pool, set facing KILIMANJARO...
afternoon safari, then back for dinner and the night. 21 Sept. morning departure for a tour of Amboseli... I must say I really liked this park; it seems like the paradise of herbivores... in this immense plain you find large groups of zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, elephants and gazelles all eating together in peace... then we go towards a panoramic hill from which you can take photos of the whole park... what a marvel!! On the way back the surprise arrives!! We come close to a whole family of LIONS!! three cubs, a female and the adult male lion with his stunning thick mane. 22 Sept. we get ready for the morning safari towards the exit... another surprise awaits me!! On arrival KILIMANJARO was not visible because of clouds, but on departure the sky is clear and it gives me the chance to admire this immense marvel!! Having left Amboseli we head for the NGUTUNI park.
This one is small in size, but nice. We stop at NGUTUNI LODGE, which is fairly big and has comfortable rooms... while we have lunch we see a whole herd of buffaloes come to drink at a pool in front of us... there were so many of them!! 23 Sept. morning safari and departure for TSAVO EAST heading for the EPIYA CHAPEYU tented camp... where I had been the year before... I saw Mario the elephant again, wandering as usual among the camp's tents... afternoon safari and back for dinner. 24 Sept. morning safari and after lunch departure for MOMBASA. END OF SAFARI... 25-27 Sept.... in Mombasa we stay at the NORTHCOAST HOTEL... a large hotel, with a television, pool, sea and decent food... we wander around shops, shopping centres and restaurants. 27 Sept. unmissable WATAMU!! and unmissable fish grill on the beach.
then departure for MALINDI to KENGA GIAMA HOUSE, a small but truly comfortable resort!! excellent cleanliness, excellent food (after a long time I ate some excellent plain pasta) and lots of friendliness from the managers. It is also close to the marine park from where the blue safari excursions set off and where you can stay on the beach in complete peace. These were my fantastic holidays... jambooo
