Kenya: Nakuru, Masai Mara, Amboseli, Tsavo West and East with in2kenya Giovanni - part 1

Ethiopian Airlines flight, departure from Milan at 11 pm, I board, we leave on time, and as always, when I have to reach Kenya, a strange calm comes over me, so I fall asleep peacefully. We land in Nairobi. I already have all the forms ready, I'm the first through, offfffff down the stairs, to collect my luggage which... hasn't arrived!!!! I head to the desk, fill in the appropriate form, and go out! Giovanni, from in2kenya, with Sketty the driver, are waiting for me. Off to the hotel that Giovanni booked for me for the day in Nairobi. The Kahama, very nice, welcoming rooms, the food is good too!! The next morning, at the airport to collect the suitcase that has finally arrived!! And then... offff with my 2 new travel companions D and R, super nice guys, a lovely couple, fantastic travel companions!! Thanks guys for the fantastic travel company.

We leave Nairobi in the morning, after crossing the city, chaotic, full of life, cars speeding by, buildings. Here we take the road that leads to Nakuru. The morning is cool, even more so!! The road starts to climb, climb, climb. Every so often I fall asleep. Then I open my eyes again and... FOG! PINES IN THE FOG!! the landscape is fantastic, green, colourful. First stop, a halt at the View Point, altitude 2,140 m, well, no wonder I was cold! We stop to admire the fantastic Rift Valley that opens up and welcomes us below. Beautiful! We set off again, between awakenings and various naps; the road starts to descend again, on our left Lake Naivasha. Then here we are, arriving in the town of Nakuru. We cross it and there in front of us is the entrance to LAKE NAKURU N.P.

a brief stop, while among the branches of the acacias we glimpse the lake, with its flamingos! Cheerful little monkeys are entertaining a school group on a trip. They run, jump, come closer. And it's a continuous chattering, children's laughter!! Giovanni calls us back, we enter the park! Start of the first game drive, on the shores of the lake, while we head toward our lodge for lunch. And on the way, before climbing the hill where the lodge is...

there, the first rhino!!!! My heart stops, I didn't think I'd be able to see one!!! if this is the beginning, well fantastic! The Lake Nakuru lodge is on a hill with a lake view, the rooms have beds with duvets, wow!! After a good meal, a bit of rest and a shower, ready for the second game drive!! We start descending the hill, in the distance buffalo, zebras, and a group of rhinos, there are 8 of them! But the real surprise awaits us near the shores of the lake! An enormous WHITE RHINO, grazing and slowly approaching the shore, where a buffalo is resting!! It's enormous, walks placidly, it's a force of nature. Up close you realise that, if it only wanted to... it would tip us over! but it's calm, it passes beside us, I photograph it from every angle. I still can't believe it. Our safari continues.

We enter the acacia forest, and there are 3 lionesses, a Rothschild's giraffe! which with its long tongue eats the tender leaves. It's wonderful, and here in Nakuru it's one of the few places where you can see it!! The sun starts to set, after a stop at the lakeside to admire the flamingos, and the hundreds of pelicans, we head toward our lodge but... but there, among the branches, on the rocks that line the road, a large leopard appears and disappears!!!! We accompany it in its search for a stretch of road. First it disappears among the rocks, then there it is again. I don't take photos, I'm too busy following it, watching its elegant movements!! Tired but happy, we finish the first great day. If this is the beginning!!! African night
