A week of relaxation on the Red Sea. We chose Sharm El Sheikh because we wanted to return, even if only for a day, to Cairo. Many years had passed since the last time and we really wanted to see how it had changed and above all to go back to the Egyptian Museum. Let me say straight away that for anyone wanting to do this as an excursion from Sharm El Sheikh, the excursion can be done by plane or by bus. Excursion prices: by plane €220.00, by bus €100.00. We went by bus (it takes more than 6 hours to get to Cairo). The excursion takes you to the Pyramids of Giza, the Citadel of Salah al-Din (Mosque of Mohammed Ali) and the Egyptian Museum. Guided tours and lunch included. It is a good long haul, but it is worth it, especially for those who have never been.
A metropolis of over 18 million inhabitants, with all its contrasts, from the veil to Western clothes, from the desert to life on the fertile land beside the Nile, from the poor neighbourhoods next to the rich ones, from cars to the donkey-drawn gig.
In Sharm El Sheikh we stayed at the Hotel Pyramisa.
Apart from the many steps to climb, it sits directly on the sea at Shark Bay and has an excellent layout for spending a week of relaxation. 4 sea zones, the first of them sandy. A good, close coral reef (15-20 m from the shore) 4 swimming pools, one of them covered and heated (???) 4 restaurants, where for that matter we also ate reasonably well (which doesn't always happen in hotels in Egypt).
An excellent dive centre, MrDiver, with whom I had already dived here three years earlier.
Excellent dives at Dahab's “Blue Hole” and “Canyon” and at Tiran Island's “Gordon's Reef” and “Jackson Reef”.
