I set off from Cairo for this trip, a city full of contradictions.... just think, it was created to house 4,000,000 inhabitants and today it finds itself with 20,000,000 inhabitants, crazy! Anyway, a strange place because here Middle Eastern Muslim culture blends with Western culture. So...after the noisy, clamorous and also rather gloomy capital, I went to Abu Simbel on the Egyptian domestic flight of Egyptair to savour a fantastic temple on the shores of Lake Nasser. From there to Aswan on Elephantine Island, one of the various cataracts of the area, and could a little visit to the botanical garden be missing? In the evening then obligatory a nice wander through the evocative local market with its thousand colours, where I couldn't resist and bought (after haggling for half an hour) a narghile... there everyone smokes it.
The following day I went to Komombo, setting off by boat on the old Nile, a great producer of silt; here I visited the temple dedicated to two deities, Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon god. From here I continued sailing towards Edfu. As soon as I arrived, could the visit to the temple of the falcon god Horus be missing, one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. From here we continue towards Esna, where you wait your turn to pass through the lock. From here then to Luxor, where I spent (unfortunately) the last days visiting the necropolis of Thebes, the gigantic Valley of the Kings and Queens (fair's fair), the Temple of Medinet Habu and the colossi of Memnon and of the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the temples of Karnak and Luxor itself. Unfortunately I'm already back.... but October will come quickly and I'll return to my old love... my South America....

Ciao Marta. La prossima estate avrei intenzione di fare una gita dal Cairo ad Abu Simbel e avrei qualche domanda da farti sul viaggio in aereo.
